TON Blockchain resumes operations after six-hour outage

Blockchain Open Network (TON) resumed services on Wednesday after an outage that saw it stop processing new transactions and fail to generate a new block for more than six hours.

TON is now producing blocks normally! We’re back online!” – said the team on X.

Earlier in the day, TON confirmed the network outage. “Several validators are unable to clear the database of old transactions, which led to a loss of consensus,” – he said. The network has asked validators to restart at 04:00 UTC on Wednesday to restore operations, provided enough validators participate.

Meanwhile, TON-based social media platform Tonk Inu posted on X that the market’s excitement over the newly launched memcoin cryptocurrency DOGS has apparently caused a spike in activity. TON last fell 2.02% on Wednesday to around $5.33.

The TON network tracker indicated that transactions were recorded in the 45341899 block before production was halted. The network then stopped producing new blocks. However, everything is now back to normal.

Blockchains process transactions in blocks. However, when new blocks stop being created, transactions remain unconfirmed and unsettled. As a result, all financial or data transactions that depend on the blockchain are halted. This causes significant delays or disruptions to services that require fast transaction processing.

Binance and Bybit suspend trading on the TON network due to technical issues

Two cryptocurrency exchanges have responded by suspending trading activities on the TON network. Bybit announced Wednesday the suspension of all deposits and withdrawals, citing an “unstable network.” In addition, chain observers noted that Binance also halted trading.

on August 26, Binance announced that the TON network update was delayed due to unexpected complications. It is currently unclear whether the two parties have resumed TON-related trading.

Block production on the TON network halted due to the arrest of Telegram’s CEO

TON, originally developed by Telegram, was designed to integrate with its messaging service to increase functionality. The halt in block production follows the recent arrest of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov in Paris by French prosecutors. They are investigating crimes related to child pornography, drug trafficking and fraudulent transactions on the platform.

Although TON originated from Telegram, it now operates independently. This separation suggests that the network’s operational problems, such as the halting of block production, are likely due to technical or network-related issues. They do not appear to be directly related to Durov’s arrest or Telegram’s corporate affairs.
