Gauntlet ends its role in risk management at Aave, citing “inconsistent guidelines.”

Independent risk assessment firm Gauntlet has dropped its partnership with Aave.

John Morrow, co-founder of Gauntlet and author of a post on the Aave forum, explained that unclear instructions and goals cause difficulties in working with a decentralized autonomous organization. Morrow said: “For this reason, we are painfully aware that Gauntlet is no longer able to continue our work with Aave.”

Morrow detailed how the company used the Aave management model. He stressed that Gauntlet encountered problems because it had to deal with inconsistent DAO guidelines and unwritten goals.

He added, “A lot has changed in the four years we’ve been working with Aave.” “It’s been amazing to watch one of our clients go from a newcomer to a giant,” he added. “But last year we had difficulty navigating among the inconsistent guidelines and unwritten goals of the largest stakeholders.”

In addition, he discussed the many problems and misunderstandings the team faced when working with the community, including repetitive proposals and allegedly unwarranted criticism.

Ernesto Boado, who used to be Aave’s technical director, responded to the post, saying: “As a member of the Aave community and a professional contributor to Gauntlet through BGD (service provider as Gauntlet), I don’t really understand the rationale behind this unilateral decision.”

Boado added, “Yes, sometimes the criticism against DAO is harsher than it should be, but in general the broad community has always shown appreciation for Gauntlet’s work.”

Aave-Chan Initiative founder Marc Zeller sharply rejected Morrow’s statement. Zeller claimed that the alleged unfair treatment was merely “a lame excuse to justify Gauntlet’s pursuit of outside business opportunities.”

In addition, Zeller explained that the community had begun recruiting additional service providers to fill vacancies.

Zeller said: “We are currently considering opening a very prestigious position at ACI with a current budget of 1.6 million per year, and we are looking forward to proposals from candidates with risk teams.”
